My name is Andy Cheng and like many of you, I was frustrated by the high prices of string instrument pickups. I did some research and began building my own pickups--first for myself, and then for my friends. Since then, I made a few improvements to my basic design and now I offer these pickups to you. These pickups feature large 35mm piezo element that senses a larger surface than most piezo pickups. The result: more of your instrument's natural sound is picked up, resulting in a fuller more natural sound to your amplifier. Also, the output is strong, so that a preamp is not necessary to boost the signal before going to an amp. Finally, I build these pickups tough. The solder joints are reinforced with plastic shrink wrap, the piezo element is coated with plastic and backed with ripstop nylon, and all my pickups feature 18ga wiring.
